Finished a 2nd terrain board for the INq28 inqvitational being put together by PDH The Ruination's of black sands . It has be transportable so this comes apart and fits in a suitcase. I was inspired by the North east Engalnd 's Industrial herriatage , Teeside redcar steel works and blasts furnaces and Newcastle and and Hartlepool Coal and and chemical plants along with the idea that the this is giant censer or thurible spewing out sweet incencse and or toxic smog , to supplicate or rapturise the pilgrims

Reminds me of Port Talbot in Wales. It has a massive industrial rig on its coastline. It gives off very Blade Runner vibes at night.

i had blade runner in mind somewhat, i read somewhere that ridley scott was lowkey inspired by the industrial chemical works in teeside for the opening shot of bladerunner - those huge flaring pipes- but i also found another weird link whilst researching this project , the end of get carter , the original one is set on a black hall beach county durham , i had never seen it before , but its very evocative , and turns out david fincher was inspired by it for the setting of alien 3 (well outside at least) i can totally see it now . never been to port talbot but the welsh mines are on my to do list

DeleteI used to love marvelling at it as a child every time we went to visit Gramps.
That looks superb, well done. The brass is a great contreast to the rest of it and it gets the vibe just right between catherdral and industrial slum.
